Back to the grind..........

Is there a greater feeling of despair than that when you wake up at 6 am on January 2nd, and realise that the world is back to its boring self. Anything fun and sparkly is quickly banished to old boxes, shops have reduced signs everywhere, and the 'holiday season' becomes almost a dream.
Travelling in to work today, I just thought about how soon Spring could get here, as theres nothing much to look forward to for a while. Weather is quite grim too, with the cheery promise of arctic winds tomorrow, so that adds to the aches in the bones too.
I guess the New Year is what we choose to make it, so lets try and make it soemthing better than the last. (just don't open those credit card bills just yet)

Its oh so quiet............

Soon it'll be time to pack away all the decs and tree for another year (ever notice how when you pack your xmas stuff away you just throw it in, then curse yourself next Xmas when you have to untangle everything and re-sort it), and its made me think how sad the decs look once Xmas comes and goes. Everything loses its sparkle, I guess..........

All those cuddly Xmas ads on tv become lose weight / go on holiday/ save money etc; Xmas music on tv/radio myseriously disappears (when EXACTLY is the cut-off point?) Xmas gets brushed under the carpet of the previous year almost like gettting rid of an unwanted relative!

Are we so fickle? is the pace of life so fast that Xmas is now a vicitm of the disposable society? I hope not. Whatever your views on Xmas, its themes of family and generosity are eternal, and it would be a shame to lose them.

Happy 2008 to you all..........

I have fallen victim to the curse that is the New Year resolution, and decided to become a blogger. I have read many this last year, some good, some not, but all of which I admired for getting off their backsides and giving it a go. So here I am.
I am initially just going to make this a 'slice of life' blog, and see if it goes in a particular direction once I find my feet. I may just comment on things in my life, or in the news, or on any areas of interest. Unpredictability is always a good thing!
So, as we ease into 2008, thanks for having me, and as Robbie Williams once said.....Let ME entertain YOU!!
